In October 2016, The University of Queensland hosted the inaugural UQ Weekend of Startups.
Over 54 hours, 100 UQ students, alumni and interested members of the community formulated an idea, formed teams, validated and built a business, and pitched to judges.
This event aimed to bring together startup enthusiasts with different skill-sets in the same room and facilitate their pitching an idea for a new startup to creating a prototype or working demo in teams of 3-5 members.
The weekend provided a platform for entrepreneurs, experts and builders to come together and create a final product, present their product to industry judges and investors, and test potential real-world applicability.
This is Queensland’s signature event focused on “Student life”. It was hosted at UQ St Lucia campus in the Advanced Engineering Building, UQ’s newest iconic building in St Lucia Campus.
The UQ Weekend of Startups is not-for-profit and volunteer-run by UQ students and staff, and the entrepreneurial community.
